As i finished up some plates for my project, I opened the television to ease the boredom of just looking through lines and details. I hope I can catch the midnight news (because i missed the evening news lately). So far into drawing stuffs, I am listening into the voices and random songs generated by the advertisements of anything. From a simple shampoo commercial to anything under the sun including political ads.
So as you do some works, your mind begins to wonder about random thoughts generated by what you hear. Then one political ad flashes up. “If I want to get richer, I would go back to my business”. Simple isn’t it? But then you will begin to wonder. If you really want to help people, why run for a political seat? There are so many ways to help your fellow country men than just running into political seat. Well we know that you own a lot of subdivisions around the metro. Why don’t you just give some free units to people who live along riversides, railroads and some vacant spots. He did also mention that he wants to help his countrymen by easing their poverty. Well you don’t need to be a political figure to give jobs to a jobless, not only if you just want the whole country to know that you gave jobs by showing it to them via a television. I think its even better if you do the job without anyone knowing what you did. Unsung heroes are greater than published ones. Sometimes even if you want to do something better, others can’t help to think that you do something fishy.
After finishing a page, I began to work on another (there are tons of work lol). So another political advertisement flashed up. “He will end corruption”. I say “wtf!”. Its been decades, even centuries that corruption is a big issue in government. They just say they will end corruption in government if they were to be elected. But as soon as they sit on the throne, they are just blind mice who doesn’t even know what corruption is. To tell you the truth corruption is something that cannot be just ended with a single man, even if he is the king of the world. Why? For example take this situation: A man needs a car registration, so he went to the Land Transportation Office. As soon as he enters the vicinity, another man approaches him and offered him a deal. For a few amount of money, he will get your car registration without even falling into a never ending line. Of course who doesn’t want a good sit under the shade of the trees while your papers are being processed? Where’s corruption? It starts when the so called “fixer” enter the office and ask a collegiate to work on the documents he is holding. So he gave something to the collegiate (whatever term that is). So for the collegiate to work on the documents fast and easy, he will give something to his supervisor so that he will not be mad if he works according to the rule. So on and so forth. So, corruption cannot be ended. It is like a virus that spreads to everyone even if he is just a plain citizen. It is a product of greed and everything bad. Even if you sit on the top, you cannot spot a particular grain of sand along the beach. Even if you make a law, punishing every people that will be caught, there is still a time before the justice has been served and corruption is still on the run. There are also some who say they will change the education system in the country. They will focus on education system. Well, I’ve been studying for 14 years and I never see a change. Prices of the books are always high (that’s why they resort to photocopying of books along a university belt), teacher’s salary rate increase is slower than oil price hike. Those who enter public school teacher are like entering 40 years of community service. So the good one’s left the country become a social worker, because their salary is greater than a public school teacher. What is 15,000 compared to 50,000? Even a grade 3 student knows it. So with all these political ads spamming up or TV screen, have they (politicians) ever wonder who they are fooling with? Maybe some poor citizens who hope they will given a grace. Well in that case there are too many poor to be given, so lucky if your one of them. They (politicians again) spend millions to advert their silly political jingles. 100 million peso can buy about 100,000 good books (if 1 book=1000) that’s a lot of books. Imagine 100,000 literate compared to about 20 million people who doesn’t even saw a book in their lifetime? If they just buy books for those who can’t afford even a daily newspaper, we can say they truly helped the country than just posting their silly pictures on TVs while watching a good evening news. And with the cost of that money, where will they get it? In people’s tax? Well its better if they bought some books and when they win they get it from the taxes. Win=win situation right?
To sum up all the rants above….. Politics in Philippines=F.A.I.L!
