Desktop PC tips

May 22, 2009

Well most of use Desktop Computer, well It’s basically composed of a monitor (LCD, CRT, doesn’t matter), CPU (towering CPU’s of course), Keyboard, Mouse, etc etc. Most of us too don’t care about these Desktop computers that we are using just as long as we can play music, surf the net, and check our Friendster account or even send messages to our dear friends we won’t bother about the life of our companion.

So after using it for some time you would get into the spot of “OMG! COMPUTER DIED”.  Getting to a cab maybe bringing your Desktop to your service repair center. You arrive, technician checked it and figured out most of the parts were to be replaced. NICE!

Well the problems lies in the fact on how you use your dear computer. You use it 24/7 without being bothered on its lifespan. Downloading every information whether it’s clean or corrupted with viruses. I have money to buy another set that cares?

So for those being concerned here are some tips.

1.       Always clean your hardware. This refers to the CPU itself and other tangible things. There are nothing to worry opening up that towering CPU’s case and finding its inside. Dust of some fans and the motherboard too. Dust lowers the lifespan of your computer components. A paintbrush will be helpful (make sure its hairs are soft), some canned air (to flush those dust from deep inside), an old toothbrush (toothbrush??WTH??… yeah its helpful in cleaning that CPU heatsink) and a good old rag to wipe here and there)

2.       Viola your hardware is good… next turn on that system and let’s deals with viruses and other infections. Get good antivirus software, most software’s today are free like Avast and AVG. they will just do the Job. Or if you already have on update it. An outdated antivirus is like no antivirus at all. You don’t want to be the source of contamination right? Windows update if applicable UPDATES all the software!

3.       Preventing part. You don’t want to suffer that painful cleanings?  Clean periodically. Fans can be cleaned every two weeks and heatsink every month. Update as soon as there are new updates.

It may be short and simple yet it will dramatically increase your precious tool. An hour sacrificing that computer game play or surfing web will be a month rejoicing about what you have just done.

Note: there are so many tips out there just Google or yahoo “Desktop tips” it will help.
